The weather has prompted us to cancel the family picnic planned for today. Pentecost services are still on!
Let’s have a picnic*! Families, bring your kids and a picnic lunch and join us on the lawn after the 10:30 service this Sunday. After we eat, we’ll check out the beautiful things that are growing around the church. *this is not the annual Parish Picnic, which will be held on July 7. This picnic is BYO Basket and weather permitting.
Carolina Public Press is currently publishing a series of articles on "The Face of Hunger in Western North Carolina." Today's article about childhood hunger really drives home the need for ministries like the Calvary Food Pantry.

"Open Office" with Father J., this Tuesday, May 7, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Fletcher Village Bakery off St. John Road. Please drop in for coffee and conversation. There is no agenda, but feel free to bring your thoughts, questions, or laptop and we'll do our work together.
Spring Plant Sale at Calvary -- Saturday, May 4 from 9:00 a.m. -12:00 noon, out on the covered porch by the main parking lot. Most of the plants will come from a well-known nursery in Mills River. They will be gorgeous and perfect for Mother’s Day. Proceeds will go to the Food Pantry Building Fund.
Today is the 10th Anniversary of the founding of the Calvary Food Pantry. We're excited about where this work is headed and grateful to everyone who is helping get it there!

We are still planning to hold our Good Friday service and Stations of the Cross, but please use your best judgement before heading out in this weather. Even if you have a role in the service, your safety comes first!
There will not be a Taize service this evening. Our regular monthly contemplative eucharist is taking a break in April. It will return on May 12.
Tomorrow, we'll celebrate Palm Sunday and remember Jesus's triumphant entrance into Jerusalem. Join us in the Old Well Hall at 8:00 or the Parish Hall at 10:30 to be a part of the procession. You may also go directly to the church and welcome the procession when we arrive. Either way, we'll enter into Holy Week together with a reading of the Passion as told in the Gospel of Luke as well as Eucharist.
One great way to participate in our celebration of Easter is to contribute some hard boiled eggs for our egg hunt. Please bring your undyed eggs to the refrigerator in the small kitchen this Sunday!
Tonight is the final installment of Food and Formation in Lent. We'll consider the ways we might pledge to live more fully into God's call to be stewards of creation. You are welcome to join us even if you have not been able to make the previous Wednesdays in Lent.
We are looking for undyed, hard boiled eggs for our Easter Egg Hunt. Please bring them on Sunday, April 14. You can leave them in the refrigerator in the little kitchen.
